Julia Redgrave has lived
and worked in Nova Scotia since 1981.
She grew up in Ontario where she attended Sheridan College and Ontario
College of Art.
Her concerns as a painter
are to capture the natural beauty that surrounds her. The most recent work,
ÒOpen RoadÓ and ÒWind and SailÓ continues her intrigue with the interpretation
of our journeys as visual metaphor. The ÒBird SeriesÓ captures the powerful icons
often embodied by these wonderful creatures.
Julia has been an
instructor in the Department of Fine Art at St. Francis Xavier University in
Antigonish Nova Scotia since 1997 and teaches the foundation ÒIntroduction to
DrawingÓ course. Julia has participated in many solo and group shows at various
galleries and has sold her work internationally. Her work is principally
accomplished using a unique technique of mixed media featuring acrylic washes
and oil pastels on Arches paper.
JuliaÕs work is represented by Lyghtesome Gallery in Antigonish and Destination Gallery in Parrsboro .
